You’ve probably heard about Swoon Records before, because I interviewed Jeff Southard from that particular label a while ago. Well, they’ve got a lot of things going, not to mention the latest one that is due to be released on the 3rd of August. It’s Justin Martin, he’s a folk-singer and his album “Awake or a Dream” will come out on that date. For those of you that are keen on that, I should tell you that it’s instrumentally superior, going from semi-acoustic to a more broaden space of different instrumentation. Firmly concentrated around his sincere vocals, which are harmonious and ominously engaged in the landscape of sullen beauty, which is American folk. Think of the best in that world, and there you have it. Couple it with a touch of psychedelia, and you’re settled forever. It’s an amazing EP and his upcoming tour is going to be rad!!! I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to do the album art for him. He is a super talented and super nice guy. I hope everyone checks out this EP once it drops, it’s beautiful.
I’ve known Justin for quite some time. Never on a personal level (per say) but watching him grow from what he used to SCREAM (capgun) I can say from deep in my heart that Justin is paving way. His evolution is ongoing, and I couldn’t be more happy with his recent progress “awake or a dream”. The instrumentals are subtly eerie, and the vocals are just right for the beautiful inspiration that is this very special “RELEASE”!
